A new toy

Yesterday i received an amazing gift: Harder & Steenbeck Evolution airbrush, and a nice little compact compressor.

It turns out that my cousin's best friend bought this kit a while back, tried it out, and now doesn't need it at all.

Guess who does need it? :)

All I have to do now is learn how to use this baby :)

  1. Grats...that's a sweet gun, H&S really knows how to make a good airbrush.

Is that a Evo solo or a Evolution 2in1 (the first one comes with a 0.2 needle, the later one also has a 0.4 needle on top of that)?

Depending on what you want to paint with it and which kind of colors you're going to use, I would recommend to get the 0.4 needle&nozzle kit for the evo if you don't own it already.

Being a proud owner of a H&S gun myself (evo too, but the silverline version) and from my own experience I wouldn't recommend the smaller needle for non-dedicated airbrush paints like GW paints or Vallejo Model color. Tamiya and Valejo Model Air work quite well with both needles, but unless you really need the ultra-thin lines a smaller needle could offer, I would recommend the 0.4 one for your "learning period".

    Cheers...

  2. If I'm not mistaken, the one I got is Evo solo, but in any case I ordered new kits for needle and nozzle since the gun took a dive once and the front of the nozzle is bent/broken. I'm taking the better safe than sorry approach here :)
Thanks for the advice about paint. I was looking for something like that :)

  3. Nice Blog. Also if you need a "back-up" brush, Harbor Freight Tools as a nice little suction feed double action airbrush for $19.99. Grab a 20% off cupon out of the paper or online and save even more.
