The last waltz for Circle Orboros

This Wednesday I'm playing in a steamroller tourney, and this will be the last time I'm playing with my Circle Orboros.

For this tourney I decided to paint a few models that were left in the to-do cabinet. Two casters I want to use are painted to a low tabletop standard (cant play with unpainted models), and so is the Feralgeist, but the Celestial Fulcrum got quite a better treatment :)

Here are the photo's for everyone's enjoyment:

How I paint faces

My face painting is far from perfect, but the results are more than decent for the tabletop.

Here is how I do it:

1. Start off with a face :)

Paint some black inside the mouth, and all over the eyes:

3. Layer some off-white on top of the black, and try to leave some black showing at the edges (This is theory. I suck at faces :P)

4. Paint on the pupils, and shape the eye as best as possible

5. Base it all in a dark flesh color

6. Layer down light flesh tone, but try to leave some dark in the recesses around the eyes and nose

7. Wash generously with Ogryn Flesh (or equivalents)

8. Highlight again with the light flesh with a spot of white added in, and fix up the beard, moustache, eyebrows, and everything that got messed up in the process :)

And this concludes my way of painting space marine faces. All comments welcome :)

Disembodied floating backpacks

I figured that my disembodied floating heads are too lonely, so I created some disembodied floating packs to keep them company

Warpwolf Stalker - Finished

Warpwolf stalker is finished, permanently based, and varnished.

Shadowhorn Satyr pt. 3 - Finished and based

The satyr is finished. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Shadowhorn Satyr pt. 2 - all nicely shaded :)

Its great to see a miniature start to take shape :)

And behold, the satyr is not flat anymore :)

Little retouching left, fixing a few mistakes, and this little guy will be ready for tabletop as well.

Shadowhorn Satyr pt. 1 - basecoat

This has to be one of my favorite models in Circle Orboros line.

The base coat is done for now, and so is the first layer for gold/emerald armor.

And soon the fun will start: shading highlighting, and generally making it look good :)

Warpwolf Stalker -Almost finished Pt. 2

The stalker is finally united with his base :) Most of the work is done, except the rope belt which i missed for some reason and saw on the pics.

Warpwolf Stalker -Almost finished

Here is one more almost finished model.

The last few touches it needs are a bit more wash, one more check to see if there are any fixes to be made, and mat varnish.

I'm not too happy with how it came out, but I really don't like this model to begin with, so who cares :)
